Year 5/6

Lockdown 2021:

As this new lockdown begins, this is where you will find key information for Year 5/6. Remember to check Marvellous Me and the school Facebook page regularly for updates.

Below is the timetable for home learning this week and the home learning letter to parents.

Following government guidance, children in year 5.6 should be spending 4 hours a day remote learning. We have put suggested timings on this timetable but understand learning may not happen in this order and that breaks should occur in between.

If your child finishes their set work on google classroom, they should be spending the extra time of that session using Reading Eggspress, Mathletics, Spelling shed, Math shed or TTRockstars to further their learning.

Timetable for 22nd - 26th February:

Monday Guided reading Maths English PSHCE
Tuesday Guided reading Maths English Science
Wednesday Guided reading Maths English PE / Thrive

Key websites to support home learning:

These are some of the key learning platforms we use in school and they are a valuable resource to support home learning. Children all have logins in the back of their planners. If your child is without their login, please get in touch with their class teacher by email or google classroom.

All planners MUST be in school everyday - they are vital for communicating with you, noting when children have read in school and recording homework tasks.

Our Class Reader

All 3 classes will have a dedicated class reader each half term to continue to promote a love of reading and listening to stories.

Reading has been proven to improve learning, so we encourage all of our children to read on a daily basis. Please continue to support us in this by listening to your children read at home, as well reading with them and discussing their book.

Home Learning and Homework

From now on all homework for the Year 5/6 children will now be set on Google Classroom. Each week they will have some spellings to learn and either a Maths or an English task linked to what they have done in class with their teacher. Every child should now have a log in to access Google Classroom and they have been shown by their class teacher how to submit their work. If your child is having problems with this or does not have access to some form computer/iPad device please speak to your class teacher. There is also a document below with clear instructions to follow, which clearly outlines how to submit a piece of work on Google Classroom.

We are trying to use Google Classroom as much as possible so that the children feel confident with using it independently, as this is what we will be using to set work on, if your child is having to self isolate for 2 weeks due to Covid-19 symptoms.
