Expectations
All planners MUST be in school everyday - they are vital for communicating with you, noting when children have read in school and recording homework tasks.
Reading has been proven to improve learning, so we encourage all of our children to read on a daily basis. Please continue to support us in this by listening to your children read at home, as well reading with them and discussing their book.
Our Class Reader
All 3 classes will have a dedicated class reader each half term to continue to promote a love of reading and listening to stories.
PE
As we did last year, we will be asking that children come to school in their PE kits on days where they are scheduled to have PE. Please ensure that your child has the appropriate kit and footwear on these days. As per the school policy, this includes a white t-shirt, black tracksuit bottoms or sports leggings and trainers or pumps. Football kits, t-shirts and hoodies with logos, normal leggings and any form of crop top are not permitted. Children without PE kit or who are not wearing the appropriate kit will be asked to wear spare kit provided by school. If children wear earrings, they must be able to remove them before the lesson as we cannot cover them up with plasters or surgical tape.
Wednesday - All children will have 1 lesson with Mr Morton from Selby High.
Second P.E. lesson is as follows:
Year 5/6HS: Friday
Year 5/6SHKR: Monday
Year 5/6AKHO: Thursday
Uniform
Please note that children should be wearing completely black shoes to school each day, as per the school uniform policy. Year 6 are permitted to wear their leaver's hoodies once they have received them, however other types of hoodie are not permitted.
Homework
Homework will be set each Thursday and will be due in the following Thursday. Each week children will have spellings to learn as well as either a reading task, a piece of math work linked to what they have been learning in school or a SPAG activity. All children have been given a homework folder to transport their work in. Failure to complete homework will result in children missing their lunch time during school in order to complete it.
