Key websites to support learning at home

These are some of the key learning platforms we use in school and they are a valuable resource to support learning at home. Children all have logins in the back of their planners. If your child is without their login, please get in touch with their class teacher.

Did you know? If your child spends just 20 minutes a week on Mathletics it could improve their overall progress by around 3 months!

Times table practice booklet

One of the most important ways in which you can support your child's learning at home is to help them learn their times tables. This knowledge is vital to all areas of mathematics.

In year 3, they should know their 2s, 5s, 10, 3s, 4s and 8s.

By the end of year 4, children are expected to know all times tables up to 12 x 12.

Children should be able to recall these facts with speed. At the end of year 4, during the summer term children will sit a Multiplication Check set by the government to test their times table recall. It is important that children have practiced not only on paper or verbally, but also tried typing these answers at speed as the test will be online. Math shed and Times Table Rockstars both run simulators of this which children can rehearse with.

Below is a copy of the times table booklet that we will also use to test children on their multiplication facts. Certificates will be handed out in assembly to celebrate their achievements.

In order to support your children's learning in maths, we will be updating this page regularly with 'How to?' guides to share the methods we teach for the four operations.

This term we will be focusing on the written methods for the four operations and how to problem solve using these strategies. It is really important that they follow the strategies that we teach at school which is why we want you to see how we teach it! If you have any questions please do ask us.
