English

In English this half term, we will be planning and writing a short narrative based on an animation called Varmints. We will also be writing a persuasive text - a job application to be one of Santa's elves. Towards the end of the term we will be writing some Christmas themed poetry. 

Maths

In maths this half term, we will be working on fractions. It is imperative that all children know their times tables as this will help scaffold their learning and progress. All children have login details for Math Shed. These websites will help children to learn their times tables at home, as well as in school. 

Science

Children will have 2 science lessons per week and each week will focus on a particular topic. Each topic will then be revisited at certain points throughout the year in order to deepen the learning and create links between all areas of science. 

This half term Year 6 are learning about electricity and light and Year 5 are learning about Space.

History and Geography

This year, history and geography lessons will be alternated each half term.

Our first history topic is the Ancient Mayans.

Our first geography topic is the UK, looking at map reading, land use and natural resources.
