Welcome to Reception 2020

We’d love to be able to meet you all over the next few weeks but we’ll know you understand why this isn’t possible at the moment, but it’s important that you know we are here for you and your child, happy to help in any way that we can. We hope these special pages, dedicated to providing you with the essential information, helps you to plan for your child joining us in September.

A phased start - September 2020

To help everyone adjust, we operate a phased start to Reception, giving the children and parents time to adapt to new routines and new people. We are positively planning for a normal phased transition for our children joining Reception in September 2020 as described below.

Week 1: 14.09.20: morning sessions only – collect at 12.00 midday

Week 2: 21.09.20: extended sessions, including lunchtime - collect at 1.00pm

Week 3: 28.09.20: full time sessions - collect at 3.30pm

These are our provisional arrangements, subject to Government guidance changes.

Safeguarding - dropping off & collecting

The safety of all of our children is the most important thing to us so we need all parents/carers to work with us by following these simple steps.

Please bring your child to their classroom, through the Early Years playground for 8.50am.

School finishes at 3.30pm. If your child has other siblings in school could we ask that you collect your child from Reception first, especially in those first few months.

If you would like someone else to collect your child it's important that you tell us who will be collecting your child and provide us with a memorable password, so we can all have confidence that we are releasing your child to your nominated adult.

Breakfast Club

To support working parents, school currently provides an affordable Breakfast Club, delivering childcare and breakfast for children who's parents need an earlier drop off time. To read more click here

Barwic's Magic Bagels

At Barwic Parade we believe that breakfast is vital to a child's ability to learn so every morning, we also offer every child a morning bagel to make sure every child is ready to learn. This program of support is currently delivered in conjunction with the National School Breakfast Programme.

School Uniform

We ask all our children to wear a white polo shirt or shirt, red cardigan or jumper and black skirt or trousers. It’s also important that your child has comfortable black school shoes.

The most frequent frustration for parents is the issue of lost clothing. Please put your child's name in EVERYTHING. It will make it a lot easier to get your child's clothing back to you quickly.

Because we play outside whatever the weather a pair of wellington boots, a warm waterproof hooded coat and a bag or spare clothing should be in school EVERY day. We are definitely a hands-on, multi-sensory, all weather Early Years setting so please expect muddy knees and some dirty washing.

Healthy Lunches

All children are given 1 hour for lunch, which normally takes place from 12.00 midday till 1pm.

All Reception children are entitled to a universal free school meal. To read more about this please click here

The school menu changes every term but your child will have the choice of our hot school lunch or an alternative such as a jacket potato with a variety of topping/or a hot panini (depending on the day). To view our latest menu please click here

We encourage all parents to pre-order their child’s lunches to help us, especially if the alternative menu items are required as these are only available when pre-ordered. You will be sent a text with a link in the text to preorder your child's meals. Alternatively you can find the most current form here
